Details for This Weekend’s Wishart Park Hike

Hi Reader,

Here are the details for this weekend’s hike. I’m hoping the weather forecast improves, but please note: if Saturday gets rained out, we’ll try again on Sunday. I’ll send an email by 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning if we need to cancel.

Hike Details

Date: Saturday Oct. 18th
Trail: Wishart Park Trail (new this summer)
Location: Wishart Park on 4th Line (between Great Northern Rd. & Landslide Rd.)
Description: This is a beautiful in-and-out trail through rolling hardwood forest, with an open field about three-quarters of the way in. I was quite impressed with it overall, and feel it's a great addition to our local trail network.
Distance: Approx. 5 km (round trip)
Time: 1 to 1.5 hours
Rating: Moderate – I’d call it a 5/10 for our age group due to the elevation changes.
Terrain: Mostly smooth, with few roots or rocks, similar to the Pinder Trail. The challenge comes from the frequent ups and downs, so good cardio fitness is a important is you find you get winded easily.

Logistics

  • Meet: 10:30 a.m. sharp – Wishart Park parking lot
  • Hike start: 10:40 a.m., following a short trail prep talk
  • Cancellation: Email update by 8:00 a.m. Saturday if weather forces a cancelation
  • Rain date: Sunday (for those who can make it). An email will be sent by 8:00am Sunday if this one must be cancelled too.

What to Bring

  • Footwear with good tread (the clay path can be slippery if wet)
  • Water
  • Weather-appropriate layers
  • Signed waiver (if you haven’t already submitted one)

Please let me know if you plan to attend.

We need at least four confirmed participants for the hike to go ahead.

If you have any questions, feel free to reply or call me at 971-2632.

Looking forward to another great day on the trail,

Lou
